Healthy Fats

One of the most important missing factors in the contemporary diet is healthy fat. According to historians the dietary fat balance of five generations ago had the proper balance of fatty acids. This allowed the body to function optimally. The modern diet is sorely lacking in balance causing much of the chronic illness seen in America today. We suffer from excessive amounts of circulating chemicals causing eczema, arthritis, dry skin, cradle cap, acne, recurrent infections, heart disease and ADHD. These inflammatory prostaglandins are formed from excessive amounts of "omega six" fatty acids in the foods we eat.

Eczema Management

Eczema or atopic dermatitis is probably the most frequent chronic skin disorder of childhood. Eczema mostly consists of dry red or white particles which are elevated and itchy. (Although there are many other forms of this disease, further description is beyond the scope of this article.) There are several different theories as to why this disorder occurs. I will discuss three of these and possible management below. I believe that the best way to manage eczema (as with most other illnesses) is to elucidate the underlying cause and treat this instead of treating the symptoms wherever possible.

Children's Healthy Diet

A healthy diet begins with a base of whole grains and vegetables, adding other healthy items to supplement them. In order to achieve the best possible health, I urge you to follow this diet as closely as possible. It frequently takes time to develop good eating habits and establish habits of evaluating food labels for ingredients which should be avoided. Gradually work into the following diet. Remember also that there will be occasions when you may not be able to follow these guidelines properly, such as in restaurants, at parties, family gatherings etc.; make these occasions as infrequent as possible and choose the healthiest available items.

Breastfeeding is the most important means of nourishing your baby with what he or she needs for proper growth and development. It is second in importance only to the healthy habits, nutrition, and supplements taken by his/her mother and father prior to and throughout the pregnancy. Unfortunately, breastfeeding is not always naturally learned. It is important for you to being preparations now.
